Connor’s Climb Foundation Helping With The Stigma Of Suicide.

In the aftermath of a suicide, family, friends and communities respond in different ways. When Connor Ball died by suicide in October of 2011, his family and friends decided that no one else should experience such a profound and life-altering loss. The Connor’s Climb Foundation (CCF) is the result of their love of Connor and their commitment to end youth suicide.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 10 and 24. There is good news, though: suicide is preventable.

OUR MISSION…

To provide suicide prevention education to New Hampshire youth and the community.

We do this by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and equipping youth, educators, and communities with tools and resources focused on the vulnerable age group of 10-24 year olds.

The Connor’s Climb Foundation works to raise awareness and provide education for youth suicide prevention throughout New Hampshire. CCF collaborates with teachers and schools, the public, and the mental health system to ensure that the young people of New Hampshire have the life-saving resources needed to prevent suicide.

CCF promotes awareness and understanding that suicide is preventable. We work to increase knowledge about the warning signs of suicide and indicators of emotional distress in our youth. Through the implementation of suicide education programs in New Hampshire schools, CCF helps educators and students foster help-seeking behaviors so that our youth in need of supportive services either reach out for them, or get referred to them by a peer, coach, teacher or any other person in their community.

CCF believes that comprehensive approaches to suicide prevention can save lives. Our goal is to ensure that the youth of New Hampshire do not reach the point of crisis. Instead, they will know the warning signs of suicide, and they will know what to do when they see those signs in themselves or someone else. CCF envisions a comprehensive, community-based approach to suicide prevention. We believe that it is the responsibility of everyone to play a role in the protection of all our youth.

CCF is able to accomplish the work of educating communities in New Hampshire about youth suicide through a grass-roots effort. One of these efforts is made possible by a group of individuals who are passionate about CCF’s mission to save young lives. These selfless individuals give of their time and talent by volunteering on our board and also supporting our flagship event, the annual Connor’s Climb 5K & Family Walk.

Since 2012, CCF has raised more than $70,000 to fund expanded education and awareness for suicide prevention in New Hampshire schools. CCF has hosted three trainings for more than 200 New Hampshire educators and community organization leaders. CCF has distributed 30 “Signs of Suicide” (SOS) education kits to New Hampshire schools and over 6,000 students have gone through the program. The Connor’s Climb Foundation is making a difference and is saving lives.

The founders and directors of The Connor’s Climb Foundation are committed to running a nonprofit public charity that will always remain true to its core values and mission statement.
